ESPN.com reports the owners rejected the NFLPA proposal after only a 57-minute meeting Thursday, March 2. The move seemed to end 13 years of labor peace, but Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney and Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson stayed behind to keep negotiations alive. A lot of people had expected the meeting to last 12 hours. Agents and some league officials are holding out hope for a last-minute agreement or an extension of the free-agent deadline.
