And remember the waiver system starts tomorrow (Mon Feb. 12). Players with at least 4 credited seasons who teams terminate aren't subject to the waiver system until after the trading deadline in Oct.

It would make sense to pick up some scrubs at need positions like we usually do so that we have some flexibility in the draft. That is what we did last year with linebacker and the past several years at safety. I imagine we will add a few guys for low ball deals. Maybe we will get lucky and find another McCree.

Yea Wienkie proved he has no value. We would be better off dropping him and getting a new veteran back up like Holcomb.

Dexter Coakley
Hasn't started much the last two years. As a guy to fight Anderson, maybe.

Carlos Emmons
big weakside guy, a good fit for our current situation. Decent run defender, good size. Don't know if he could fit inside in this scheme, but while you wouldn't sign him for it, I imagine he could move there. Injuries have left him unreliable, 7 games lost in 05 and 4 in 06.

Jermaine Wiggins
I wouldn't turn him down, but he's not the "one good player" we'd all like at TE. He's another guy who does a few things allright.

Mike Rosenthal

Former Giant when Fox was there. Was big money when signed and probably won't be now.

Dwight Smith
decent enough.
Mike Doss
not terribly explosive. Just kinda "there".

TE David Martin
Lot of size here, but while he's grown in numbers slightly in the last two years while sharing time with Franks, he's almost always hurt.

Deltha O'Neal
10 int two years ago, 9 in 01. Formerly very productive KR and PR. Also had a DWI in 12/06.

Kelly Holcomb
OK backup, and probably a mild upgrade.

Edgerton Hartwell
Loved him coming out and he was a monster in Baltimore. An odd fit in ATL and missed 11 games in 05, 8 in 06. Another injury situation, honestly. A fine player who might be worth it on the cheap, but otherwise is just not a guy I'd put much money into. Paying Morgan to be cut and Hartwell to be on the sideline in street clothes puts us deeper than where we are.

From what I understand, the Minnesota guys were really bad this year. Dwight Smith was part of a horrible pass defense. I don't think he would be any sort of upgrade over what we have, and he's had some disturbing off-field issues lately.

Coakley just isn't the same player anymore, either.

I'd feel better with Holcomb as our back-up.

Pretty much a "no thank you" to anyone else on that list.

Some team in dire need at corner will probably give Deltha O'Neal a big contract. I would not mind having him here to play nickel and return kicks but not at the price a starting corner demands.

The Vikings defense was not that bad over all. Smith might be an option. I think he has played for every team in the league though. Doss was pretty highly rated coming out. He might be worth a look to see if he can revitalize his career.
