I know I read bits and peices of this here and on the other board but just wanted to get a thread to discuss it thoroughly, If we keep Spoon inside, and move Morgan out which side would Morgan and Favors handle and which line-up best benefits the Defense?

So who screws in the light bulb

I don't favor such a change, but keeping spoon inside wouldn't be bad. I'd put Morgan weakside where he could use his speed to make more plays, a la Derrick Brooks.

Change.

Don't know that I favor a change either but thought I rememmbered Magnus talking about Morgan getting less of a toll on his body outside and Spoon has seemed to manage the middle fairly well, and that me contemplating the pro's and con's of such a move and if Favors would be benifited?

Apparently, we don't even need Morgan.

From a win/loss perspective, at least. Was he even around for those last 5 games last year?

Stick him in the middle. If he can't hang, he can't hang.

I agree that the middle is where Morgan should go. He's ideal for that position on paper. But the indication to date is that he can't hang there.

I think he can still be an exceptional impact player on the outside, though, if Magnus is right and he can stay healthier there. If not, bust him back to vet minimum and keep him for depth maybe.

If Fields can come back healthy next season, I would have absolutely no problem with a lineup of Fields on the strong side, 'Spoon in the middle and Morgan on the weak side. Someone threw in a possible comparison to Derrick Brooks. Don't know if Morgan can be that good, but he might get close in time.

The comparison has also been drawn to Biakabutuka. And while I don't disagree with that, I still believe Timmy could've contributed as a third down back. No way he was ever going to be an every down player, but that doesn't mean he was completely worthless. Guys like Dave Meggett and Terry Kirby made careers out of being part timers, and made solid contributions (both have SB rings, BTW). Granted, the example doesn't really translate well to LB, but the point I'm trying to make is that just because a talented athlete can't hang in one position doesn't mean he can't make a big impact in another.

I'd rather see Towns in the Middle flanked by Morgan and Witherspoon.
