Why can we just have a guy like Goings learn how to return punts. He may never break a big one but he should not have many fumbles either.

Goings has a lot going for him. Good hands, decent speed, great football knowledge, but I don't think he has enough open field ability to be a punt returner on a full-time basis. At this point though, I'd settle for a smart player who gets 5 yards and hangs on to the ball over risking Smith or Gamble getting jacked up when they're way more important as starting position players.
