Alex Marvez, of the Sun Sentinel, reports the Miami Dolphins have informed FS Arturo Freeman they will not retain him at his projected 2005 salary. Freeman was expected to earn $3 million in base salary along with a $300,000 roster bonus. If the team releases him by March 2, it will save roughly $3.2 million in cap space. Freeman's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, declined comment on the matter.

He would be an upgrade on Branch and it would be nice to have a veteran back there. Not sure I want him but I have not read about many decent free safeties becoming available.

I don't see Freeman as an upgrade at FS. He had 1 more int than Branch, 18 less tackles, and 3 less passes defensed. Then there's that 3 million base salary with Miami. In terms of trying to resign Moose, and unless he took less $ here, that's valuable money we'd be throwing away when we should be spending it on Muhammad.

No way I give him $3 million per year. He wont get that anywhere else either.

Stats aside, Freeman would be somewhat of an upgrade IMO. His experience alone is worth it.

His experience is useful, but he'll never grow into anything. If we wanted to grow Branch, regretfully the best place for him is on the field. We need a guy to push him or replace him.

Only safety I would throw that kind of coin to is Rodney Harrison or Ed Reed
