open source is not the opposite of big business. Many large businesses embrace open source as a concept and make money from it (support and other services, getting the software to run on their hardware to help sell the hardware, etc.).

just like the Internet changed things, open source changes them but not as much as predicted.

yeah, i think that's how they squash it -- take it on as part of your own.

same way that big news organizations have "i-reporters" and "community journalists" -- that's open-source journalism and the big news organizations are funneling them through their media. on their terms.
