The Carolina Panthers claimed safety Travares Tillman off waivers Thursday and placed defensive end Kavika Pittman on injured reserve.

Tillman was waived earlier this week by the Houston Texans. He had been recovering from a fractured right forearm that kept him out of training camp, but the Texans thought he could play this week before they released him.

Pittman will miss the rest of the season with torn knee ligaments, an injury the Panthers contend stemmed from a chop-block by Tampa Bay’s Keenan McCardell last Sunday.

Pittman tore the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his left knee during overtime.

Feel that pressure Grant?

I think it's Coop that needs to feel pressure. I gotta feeling the league might make him go bye-bye for a bit, or the team might make him goto inpatient rehab.

Cooper is a Strong Safety and the Panthers already said they (and the NFL) would wait until the conviction to take punitive action.

OK.

When I think of Safety, and what the weak link is, it ain't Grant. It's Branch.

Branch is bad depth behind Grant.

Either way, good claim, I think. Worst case we dump him in a coupla weeks if someone better rolls around.

Still think that Branch is more of the athletic strong safety Minter type player than FS. He's got no experience, he's got no ball skills, he kinda hits a little.

Tillman's good depth. Just beacuse he's made a few starts, a few tackles, and two plays on the ball doesn't make him Steve Atwater.

Keeping 10 DBs is a little odd.

Talked to a state trooper at the gym tonight, Cooper was driving Saurbrauns Land Rover when he got pulled. Thank goodness Saurbraun wasnt in the car or he would have been an accessory.
