I dunno if Kasay is losing it for those reasons, but I do think Shane is winning.

Kickoffs are better, younger. And he did do well as the season went on.

I vote Graham. Kasay will probably get injured again the first or second game.

The way the panthers score, the FG kicker is extremely important to the outcome of the game. Kasay is very reliable when healthy. Maybe even the most reliable in the league. His salary will be of little importance if he means the difference in 3 or 4 games. I would be willing to take a chance on his health.

Imho there is no question that Kasay is a significantly better kicker than Graham. Cutting Kasay will be a mistake that will end up costing us a game or two.

This notion that Kasay is a sure thing to get injured is all bunk in my opinion. He has had 3 major injuries since the end of the 1999 season, but it seemed that the busted knee cap was connected to the ACL injury he rehabbed. Those injuries are long behind him as he has played an entire season since then. Last year he had the sports hernia, and as did Dante Wesley and Dan Morgan, he has recovered from that injury. Wesley and Morgan are both young so the injury does not appear to be age related. Shayne Graham may get it this year....who knows. All I can say is it would make no sense to me to cut one of the most reliable and accurate kickers in the NFL.
