This is some scary shit. Any starter goes down for an extended time and we're screwed. We'll use at least two picks on OL in the draft unless we sign some one worth a damn,

We need a better backup tackle, but Hangartner looks like a capable backup at C and G.

I think you're freaking a bit too much. Something you forget about the Panthers O-Line is that most of them were added for versitility.

Hangartner can play C, G, and maybe an emergency Tackle.

Mathis can play G, and be an emergency T or C.

Wahle can play G or T.

Wharton can play T or G.

Kadela can play T or G.

I think we are ok. If an OT goes down we can slide Wahle outside and bring in Hangartner at guard. Some depth would be good though. That is what the draft is for.

it's really not that bad. A 3rd tackle and we're set - that's a lot better than how we've come into the draft in 02, 03, 04, 05. We won't have to try to rely on shit-nobody scrubs like Noa, Claridge, Brzezinski, Nelson. We won't have to desperately hope that a lineman drops to us or have to reach for a need player.

I'm very satisfied.

I am always wanting us to upgrade the OL but I am pretty happy this year. I was wanting Jamal Brown or David Bass last year but this year I am happy going with who we have and maybe drafting some depth later on in the draft. I think Mathis will prove to be an upgrade on Reyes and Hartwig will be an upgrade on Mitchell. Wahle made the probowl and Gross is solid. Wharton was ok at LT and improved as the year wore on.

Panthers | Mathis may be promoted to the starting lineup

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Carolina Panthers are expected to elevate OL Evan Mathis, a third-round choice in 2005 who appeared in just nine games as a rookie, to the starting job at right guard. The incumbent at the position, OG Tutan Reyes, is a free agent who probably will sign elsewhere.
