I know I am always throwing major props to Ron Meeks, but other than the lack of takeaways, this defense is as good as any, play for play, considering what they're dealing with. I have never seen a top-5 overall defense spend 2/3 of each game on the field, yet maintain a consistency and lack of big plays.
Meeks said it, and its quite simple. If this team wants to win more games, it will come down to our defense taking it one level higher and matching our offense's giveaway count with takeaways.
My thought is this is Carolina's 2nd best defense under Fox, with 2005 as the best. (2002 was probably at least on par with 2010, but we had more vets on that squad)
I'm still encouraged by the collective progression of many newbies. Godfrey in particular--he's flying around and looking great.
Offensively. Its the line, and the qb's. Neither position is executing at a level acceptable to any NFL coach, and I know Davidson, Fox, Magazu and Rip are fucking sick over it.
Well. Except for Fox. He's already broken ground on his new North Texas mansion.
Oh, and Darin, this is nothing personal, but the idea that letting 34 walk, at any cost, is a bad idea. At this point, let Kalil and TD walk, and rebuild via-draft. Or let Mack have a shot a center. But losing Kalil scares me none. TD's crippled. 34 is a playmaker, and he's sorely missed. The run blocking is horrible right now, even from the left side.
