don't you think the 49ers should try to host a conference tournement here eventually? i mean, its been 14 years since they hosted the SUN BELT Tournement (which no one went to since UNCC lost in the first round). I think things would be better in the new Uptown Arena though (smaller capacity, tons of hotels in the immediate vicinity, etc.). Not sure if we could host a CUSA Tourney before we leave, but no matter where we end up at Judy Rose & CO. should start efforts now to get the ball rolling on this . . .

I agree, though I must admit that Charlotte is unattractive to major conferences for one reason only - the ACC. I don't see C-USA or the A-10 wanting to hold a conference tournament in a place where it will receive second-fiddle coverage.

I travel to the conferency tourneys most every year. It's kind of a mini-vacation for me. I get to get away from the wife & kids for a few days, try to run with the 20 and 30-somethings, stay up late, sleep late, and talk basketball for days on end.

As much as I complain about Louisville and Cincy always hosting the tourney, I've had a hell of a lot of fun each year and I'd go back.

I would love to see the A10 tourny downtown. If it were to happen, it would be nice for it to happen a year at least 3 teams were in the top 25 or so (Charlotte, X, St Joes, Dayton, Umass, Temple, etc).

on a side note, Bob Johnson would have to cut us a sweetheart deal (like he might be doing on his TV network ) to rent it and not rip us off like Jerry Richardson wants to at Ericcson for football.
