NFC South Questions

I have a few questions about the NFCS this year and I was wondering what your thoughts might be.
1. Do you think Vick will play as well this year considering teams have a years worth of game footage? Same question regarding Peppers.

2. How much if at all does the lack of Del Rio hurt us?

3. What are your thoughts on Delhomme will he get it done this year? God knows we are do some luck.

4. Do you think we can finally beat Atlanta at home?

5. Who wins the 1 and 2 WR spots?

1. Do you think Vick will play as well this year considering teams have a years worth of game footage? Same question regarding Peppers.
- It depends on what each player has done in the off season to improve themselves, what they learned from last year, and how their teammates around them play

2. How much if at all does the lack of Del Rio hurt us?
- I think his energy may be the biggest loss, but I also think at worst it will be two steps forward and one step back this year, and that still means an improvement for the Defense.

3. What are your thoughts on Delhomme will he get it done this year? God knows we are do some luck.
- This really can only be a personal opinion. PERSONALLY I think he'll be good. Maybe not an All-Pro, but our most solid QB since Steve B. Now I know its all specualtion, but until they're on the field no one else can give you any better info.

4. Do you think we can finally beat Atlanta at home?
- Not this year.

5. Who wins the 1 and 2 WR spots?
- Same guys that were last year. With Dyson going down there's no reason to expect any change in this.

I agree with Brain, with two exceptions.

First, I honestly believe Vick will struggle a bit this year. He'll still be very good, but DC's around the league will be better equipped to scheme against him. Peppers, on the other hand is bigger, a LOT stronger, probably quicker, and definitely smarter than last year. If he stays healthy, he'll be an absolute beast. For most teams, it'll take a double team on the line, and a back to keep him under 2 sacks per game, so Rucker should have a huge year. I see no reason why they shoulnd't be the tandem DE's in the Pro Bowl.

Secondly, I think we've improved enough that we CAN beat Atlanta in Charlotte, but I'm not positive we will. We gotta figure out that stinkin' 3-4 defense of theirs, and bring our A game.

I think Mike has been lucky to be un-injuried so far. If he keeps running wild eventually he is gonna get smashed.

To beat Vick, if its me I would rush up the middle with front 4 and keep at least one LB as the spy. What I mean is stunt the ends and DON'T rush wide on Vick. Go get him up the middle. When he jumps to the outside to find daylight - get that spy to smash his ass or slow him down and let the pursuing rush get him from behind. Even when you don't quite get to him, play zone coverage keeping the WRs in front of you, and hope he is wild with his arm. If he runs wild the whole game and beats you with his legs - well then he earns the win. Eventually the guy is gonna get smashed - so I take my chances there.

Basically slow Vick down and make him beat you with his head and arm. Make him fuck'n pay for running though. One good slobber knocker and he thinks twice about taking off.

actually you agreed with me on both points... sort of... when I said...

...I had Peppers in mind. I know he's gotten a LOT stronger in the offseason and feel he'll have a MASSIVE year... and the 3-4 defense is the reason I think we won't win in Atlanta this year... I wouldn't be surprised to see us split the series, but I don't think we have what's need to win THERE... yet
