Not to mention the skins romp.

NFC East and South are strong. People talk about how much stronger the AFC is, but those 2 divisions are tough.

Both conferences have 8 good teams. 7 of the NFCs are in two divisions.

I'll raise a question here:

Should the NFL stop giving division champions an automatic playoff birth? I'd feel better knowing that the best teams were in the postseason, but that's me.

you don't change tradition becuase one division one year appears to not have a contender

#1) Because it gives most regular season games some meaning and promotes rivalries. Losing to Atlanta or Tampa Bay wouldn't be a big deal (or at least no more than the Miami loss) except for the fact that they're in our division.

#2) Because the best teams usually get in the playoffs anyway. Some years one deserving team will miss out, but rarely do you have two or more who had a better record than the worst division winner. This was even more true when there were just three divisions, but it still holds.

Figured the best teams that win their division will get in regardless, along with the best of the rest in each conference. But I see why people want to stick with tradition, which is all good. I just hate it when a half-assed team qualifies for the playoffs.
