Peete has a torn meniscus in his knee.......will have surgery.

Weinke back as Panthers starting QB

BY PAT YASINSKAS STAFF WRITER

The Carolina Panthers will have a new quarterback Sunday when they play the Atlanta Falcons. Chris Weinke, who was benched at the start of the season, will be back in the starting lineup, coach John Fox said Monday.

Rodney Peete, who started the first six games, is scheduled to have surgery Tuesday morning to repair a torn miniscus in his knee. Peete is expected to miss three or four weeks

is that why he needed oxygen? Sounds fishy to me. Oh well. I know one person that is praying weinke gets hurt.:)

it's what we all expected. peete would get hurt. hope his 3-4 weeks isn't as long as Foster's. hope weinke fans are right. wonder who they will pickup.

Might not pick up anyone. Probably not, for just 3 or 4 weeks.

We will see how Weinke responds. He played better last week, and I admit I had the same lump in my throat when he came in. But he made good passes, and went downfield more than Peete. Let's just see if he can stay consistent, and can read man coverage when they eventually switch on us.

If not, then Sandy may get his wish.

First part is scary... Isn't Walls the 4th string QB in a game situation? Edit - does that make him 3rd now?

No guys, I do not wish Winky to hurt a pinky... Without names, I have never wished physical harm to any football player, especially a Panther player. Now would my feelings be hurt if 3 of Tampa Bays defensive line folks twisted their ankles running out of the tunnel? As long as they came back the next game :D, I'm ok with that.

So no, lets nip that one in the bud right away. I do not want Chris Weinke to get injured, period.

i was kidding anyways sandy. no beef!!

Seems that Peete had been playing with the tear all season. Now they decide surgery? Like i said, fishy.

All this and morgan is doubtful against Atlanta.

It's not too likely that both Weinke and Fasani will get hurt in the same game. But yeah, Walls would be the emergency QB.

Interesting from ESPN:

Carolina coach John Fox said Monday that Peete has been playing with a torn meniscus in his right knee all season and will have it repaired on Tuesday.

"It's been a lingering thing since camp and it became a little more problematic when we started the regular season,'' Fox said. "Playing football on a meniscus tear is not really good treatment for it.''

But if we were winning, you BET YOUR ASS he'd be playing on it.

Yep.

Peete wasn't bitching about the tear week one.

This is a benching, and the injury is the perfect excuse. He could play through.

well, in that espn article they made it sound like this surgery is news to fox. He said something like he was only worried about the concussion, and that it (concussion) wasn't gonna affect peete playing next week.
