But it didn't really do much for me. Can all you MP3 player owners out there make any recommendations? Also welcome are the 'what I would do next time' type thing. TIA

Me, I got the Dell 30Gb Jukebox for under $200 including shipping. It holds music and data if you install the software. Works great. And you can edit the song titles, artists, and genres in the player through the USB connection. Easy to use and really small. Lasts 12 hours on a charge and I haven't come close to filling it up.

I go to the gym a lot and I have a iRiver 256 meg MP3 player. It holds about 55 mp3 which amounts to around 4 hours of music. I like it b/c of the battery life, compactness, and the weight (very).

That makes sense. I about freaked, 'cause I've been looking at the 5GB Dell, which is around $200.

Yep. They all have headphone jacks. Mine has been to Lauderdale a few times and back. Just take the power cord and recharge it while you're there. They also have a whole selection of vehicle items including a cup holder adapter that keeps it from banging around.

I have the same iRiver 256MB as Savio. That one or the 512MB one are the best for workouts.

For raw storage capacity, I'd get the Dell or an iPod.

If anyone's interested...

I have the Wal-Mart Ilo (Rave) 256 with a 1Gb smart media card I'll unload for $100. The card cost me that much back at Christmas. I've got the firmware update that should make the card fully readable as when it was purchased, they could only work with a 512Mb card.
