Those top 3 spenders are not seeing the playoffs in the next 3 or 4 years (or more). I know some believe that Shanahan will mold the skins into a playoff team but i don't see it.

Adding in the top rookie contracts artificially helps your argument since, presumably, a bad team is picking first, also nice job making top 3 the cutoff since top 4 adds a team that's been in the playoffs consistently.

I think the Bears are doing it to save their coaches/GM skin, I'm not sure Snyder ever worries about his coaches opinions he just finds a shiny new toy.

Your original post doesn't say FAs, it says most guaranteed money and lists both rookie contracts: Stafford, Jalardass, Ryan and contract extensions to players who weren't FA:Romo, both Mannings, Rivers, Big Rape, Vick.

I generally agree that spending in FA doesn't cover up poor player development or coaching, my main problem was how you presented that argument more than anything else.
