Panthers take Jonathan Stewart at No. 13. Um, wow. I don't think Stewart has nearly the same potential as an all-around back as Illinois' Rashard Mendenhall or Arkansas' Felix Jones. They already have a third-down type back who can't hold up in DeShaun Foster, and here's potentially another. This Duck is the first truly iffy pick of Round 1.

I think Stewart is better than that, but multiple sites made mention of the fact that Stewart has had injury problems and tries to avoid contact rather than break tackles. Several speculated that he wasn't ideal to carry the load for an offense. Apparently you were under the misapprehension that Stewart was universally considered a stud. He isn't.

But no, they generally don't pay attention to personnel. I'm not surprised that he didn't realize Foster is no longer here. Actually, I even forgot about Toefield, who strikes me as pretty similar to Stewart.

Look, I've been pretty open that I preferred Mendenhall over Stewart, but I still like the guy, and no, I don't rely on a handful of highlights to evaluate a player. Just had them in another window as I was responding to the thread.
