Actually, this is kinda funny and sad at the same time. I guess when it rains, it pours.

Associated Press
NEW ORLEANS -- Unresolved money and stadium issues between the New Orleans Saints and the state have resulted in the city being dropped from consideration for the 2009 Super Bowl, according to a published report.

New Orleans is still in the running for the 2010 game, The Times-Picayune of New Orleans reported Thursday, quoting unnamed NFL sources. The city last played host to the game in February 2002.

The Saints have proposed a Feb. 1 deadline to reach a new agreement with the state that would include renovation of the Superdome and a new lease to keep the franchise in New Orleans past 2010.

But Gov. Kathleen Blanco has said negotiations won't resume until the team's season ends with their last game on Jan. 2. As for the February deadline, Blanco responded earlier this week, "Frankly, that's their date," saying she expected to have a proposal to offer the Saints early next year but refusing to specify a timeline.

At a Wednesday meeting of NFL owners in Atlanta, league officials said they will consider only cities with new stadiums or long-term lease agreements for future Super Bowls, the newspaper reported.

Atlanta, Houston, Miami and Tampa Bay, Fla., were named finalists for the 2009 Super Bowl, league sources said. An official announcement from the league was expected Thursday.

The league plans to announce the list of 2010 finalists at its May meeting and award the game next October or in March 2006.

Saints executive vice president of administration Arnold Fielkow had warned last month that the league would not award a Super Bowl to a team with an unsettled stadium or lease agreement. The team refused further comment Wednesday.

I say don't consider Houston unless they show they can provide a decent playing surface :teeth: They should have been ashamed the way guys were slipping all over that field in the SB.

Pats didn't slip......

I wonder....Los Angeles Saints? Or would they change the name to Angels?

Having gone to Houston for the SB I would say for the most part they did a good job and Reliant is a nice stadium. My only beef was the fact that they closed the roof and never opened it again. It got very smokey in the place after halftime and I did not like that at all. Some of the ones I went with paid good money for upper level seats and had issues seeing through the haze for the first few minutes of the 3rd quarter.

Yes they did. That's part of the reason our passing game took off. But it was the NFL's fault. They decided the grass wasn't green enough, and replaced the turf with something super dense. The Texans crew didn't participate in the decision.

At least they could see SOMETHING while they were there. I was sitting under an AC vent that blew constantly. I froze and couldn't see because the "wind" dried out my contacts.

I was just passing through over at Saintsreport.com and read 1 thread where they are talking about a tax on lottery tickets to keep the Saints in Nawlins.
