Torn ACL forces veteran OT Gandy to end season

Starting left offensive tackle Wayne Gandy, who had previously missed only one game during his 14-year NFL career, has been lost to the Atlanta Falcons for the balance of the 2007 season.

An MRI examination on Monday confirmed that Gandy suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during Sunday's loss to the Tennessee Titans. The injury occurred in the fourth quarter, when Gandy's knee buckled.

Gandy, 36, will undergo surgery once the swelling in the knee is reduced, and he will be placed on injured reserve. At his advanced age, and facing a lengthy rehabilitation, it is conceivable the injury might end Gandy's career.

He has one year left on his contract, at a base salary of $3.5 million for 2008. With the Falcons clearly in a rebuilding mode now, Gandy could consider retirement, or the team may elect not to bring him back for another season in 2008.

Calling an injury "humor"

= BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD JUJU

:iagree:

That's fucked up.

Props to Wayne Gandy for lasting this long and congrats to a good retirement.

no humor in season enders...even if it is ATL

the Bucs lost Pittman for 6-8 weeks. this division is taking a hit.

Gandy's a class guy. He was pretty much done as a tackle anyway, but I still hated to see him in a Falcons uniform.

Well dayum. I thought anything bad happening to the Falcons is humor. Hey Gandy, it ain't personal.
