It's true. That team was in Charlotte half my life, I was in 7th grade when they came. I'll never forgive Shinn, and the more I think about it, the harder it is to forgive the NBA. There are many in Charlotte that will never have anything to do with the NBA ever again.

Met Gattison in the pits in Charlotte in 93 (I think). I was down there for ARCA crewing (it was stupid - I held the sign, my father carried tires), saw a bunch of the Indy guys for IROC and their entourages. Gatt seemed bigger, Parrish only really tall and old, but hell, he looked old 10 years ago. Only two Hornets or for that matter pro ballers I've ever met.

Agree, I was 5th grade when it came. I didn't even know anything when I was that young, but I watched. Seemed like, after Baron and all that started, I wasn't as interested. Just paid attention down the stretch and playoffs. I didn't even like that fans were turning on the team, but I was doing it too. I'm probably going to be a casual Bobcats fan for a while. I have no problem being temporarily fairweather with the NBA right now.

God, I'm older than Magnus

The Hornets were my introduction to sports as well. I started following Duke that year, wasn't a football fan until we got the Panthers. They started my first year of college.

I met Mike Gminski at the Special Olympics held at my school. Talked to him for about five min, it was great. I congratulated him on the 3 pointer he hit the night before in Milwaukee, I think he was slightly impressed that I remembered the fairly insignificant play.

I chased Muggsy Bogues home one day. He smoked my stanza, he lived in Providence Plantation, and saw him turn in (#1 NBA license plate) when I went to visit my friend. When he noticed I was chasing him, he took off (Porsche? I'm not good with cars). Anyway, I knew where his house was (he had a SWEET full-court in his backyard complete with Hornets paint) so I drove past. When I finally got there he and his family were already out of the car and going inside.

I saw Kenny Gattison in SouthPark and I had the same impression as you Mags, dude was HUGE. I didn't bother him though.

The Hornets leaving sucked, hopefully it will be for the best. A part of my childhood died when they left though. I definitely miss paying $15 to get in and sitting in the 8th row
