Hate to take up a new thread but it's relevant. No one's really said where Adam's gonna play. I'm preferential to guard right now, because we can cut money at guard easily. At tackle, it might be June before it's truly beneficial to cut Steussie.

We should put him at either C or RT. That way we can change all 5 positions along the line.....

My preference is RG. He has experience there in the past and I would like to see Nelson at LG. That way you sandwich him between two vets for a year or so and keep a vet next to Gross. Spread out our youth, so to speak.

not really sure, but we should be set at offensive line for this year.

Doesn't rule out a guy in the draft. Say if one of the talented guards slipped, then we could sit him for a year, flop Gross to the LT for '05 slide Meadows out to RT and plug the rook in at RG.

It does mean we don't "need" anything else there though.

See, if we cut Steussie, then we gotta draft a guy. Don't see Meadows necessarily playing out five years at 30. Which means drafting another higher lineman. Who can't play corner.

True - but Steussies money could pay for a corner.

Either way I like the signing. It opens up options that did not exist 10 minutes ago.

Agree on second part. First part? Don't count on it. Steussie saves about $2 mil. Meadows might cost nearly that initially.

Could we play Meadows at G and switch him to T next year? If we cut Doug B that mitigates some of the cash spent on G. And is it also possible that he gets a decent signing bonus with less of a salary the first year as well? That could further decrease the outlay for OG for the '04 season.

Stuessie is in his last year here, as his contract now stands. If we keep him and play Meadows at G then it also gives Gross another year to get ready to move over and maybe next year we can address the guard spot Meadows would vacate. I guess we can restructure Stuessie too but does he want to go past this year or retire?
