My son is changing schools this year, as a rising Senior. He's moving from a small private school to the local public school and wants to play football. He's probably not good enough to get a starting job at his old position (CB/DB), and he played a lot of soccer growing up. So he decided that he wanted to learn to kick, and took it upon himself to start practicing for a couple of hours a day at a local school's athletic fields. He's largely self taught from YouTube and various articles around the web.

I'm not sure when or why he decided to do this, but about two months ago he reached out to Lirim Hajrullahu on instagram and sent him several videos of him kicking. Lirim not only responded, but he offered a lot of pointers and since then they've continued their correspondence. He's always been encouraging, and has given my boy a lot of good tips.

Regardless of how things work out for my kid, I think it's really cool that an NFL kicker would make the effort to help a total stranger, and be that approachable. I hope both of them make their team this year, and wish each a lot of success.

Just thought I would share.

Welp, we brought back Zane Gonzales and waived Lirim. Hope he does well wherever he goes next, he's been a really nice guy.

Man, that is great news.

Is he a straight on kicker or soccer style?

I've worked with kickers A LOT over the years...the best ones have been quirky and damn near OCD.

Just sayin'...

Coach, I find your words encouraging. Being a proud father, I think my kid is awesome, but he fits that description to a T.
