Lee Evans: Flying under the radar, Evans will be the surprise of
this year's wide receiver class. Evans endured two major knee surgeries
in his collegiate career but came back to have a strong 2003 and run a
sub 4.4 forty. He holds the single season Big Ten record for receiving
yards. Evans' playing style is reminiscent of Joey Galloway's with his
authoritative, almost arrogant route running and explosive style.
Think of Stephon Marbury running the fast break on a football field.

No doubt, Evans will shine on the NFL level. He plants and drives
without slowing down. Has extremely strong hands, maybe the strongest of
this group. Will blow by cornerbacks. With his speed, experience,
crisp cuts, determination and hands, Evans will prove to be a great value
no matter where he's drafted. Some teams may shy away from Evans early
in the draft because of his two knee surgeries. Evans will likely be
drafted in the mid to late first round, and chances are Evans will go to

Steve Smith.

I like him other than the knee issue. There is such a high pucker factor when you consider some of our 1st round luck. If he has had problems twice at the collegiate level, does anyone think that the pros will be easier? He may very well be a good pick, but I'd take a safer pick myself. If I was someone like NE who had multiple picks I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Lee Evans has been moving up draft charts. I wouldn't be surprised to see someone like the Rams take him. I thin it wasn't a good likelyhood before Williams, but now I find it extremely doubtful he is at 31.

I don't see him even getting to the Rams. The only knock on him is his knee, and if teams have determined that it is fine, then I think someone will take him higher than any of us think.

Bears are looking hot and heacy at him per ESPN Insider:

Apr. 23 - The former Badgers star is hardly an optimum fit for the West Coast-style offense new coordinator Terry Shea will install, but the Bears do need a speed dimension, especially since there is no guaranteed that 2001 first-round wide receiver David Terrell is ever going to justify his draft status. There are whispers that the Bears are looking hard at Evans. Then, again, there is so much smoke surrounding the Chicago pick, one would think Halas Hall was engulfed in a three-alarm blaze.
