I thought he had a great pedigree coming out. Granted, it's that Denver thing, but he's got the ability as a receiver, and an allright pop. We coulda used one of our project FBs to work out by now, though I suspect Cramer was good enough to make the team.

Hoover I can buy the cult hero thing. But Goings to me can produce when called upon. Is he truly a full back? Nope, but he did manage 4 100 yard games and always has a knack for coming up with a big play and/or solid performance when called upon.

Does Hoover do anything for us? Not a good blocker and isn't used as a receiver enough to make up for it.

Partially agree. Much as it's cliche' to bring them up, the Pats had a lot of blue collar types on their team, and they made the difference as much as a Seymour did. But yeah, sometimes you've gotta get your talented guys stoked to work hard (it might be a stretch to call Moorehead talented, but ...) moreso than looking for less talented guys who'll work hard every down but to lesser ability (Carstens, not to shit on the guy in this case). If every guy on this squad went through games like our tighty-whitey cult hero guys, yeah, we'd have 10 pro bowlers. I'm not going to say that Morgan, Peppers, and so on don't work hard. But we've gotta get more out of the Atiyyah Ellisons we acquire, so we're not left undertalented and hoping that someone'll make a play. An Ellison could've been a difference-maker, where as good as you get out of a Carstens you've still got the same Jeff Zgonina, Tim Morabito, Kemp Rasmussen, Shawn Price, Mark Thomas guy out there.


Hoover, in the ideal offense, would do enough blocking to keep a job (check) and would get opportunities in the passing game and running the ball (negative) to make it worth it. I can't fault him for not being used more in the open field. We could use more options to move the chains with, since we still don't often keep the continuity of a drive going for as long as I'd want.

Same for Mangum, really. I wish one of them was above average at something we used them for, much less both. It would make it easier to hide problems like our current base running problem.

Doh! when I read my own post this morning I realized it wasn't Johnson that had the consecutive broken hands, that was Casey Moore?

Johnson, if I remember correctly, was dismissed fairly quickly and we never saw much of him at all on the field. He was either cut during camp to pick up depth elsewhere or during the first cut. Not 100% sure. It's still morning
