Kasay and kickoffs

Does the rule change moving the kickoff up to the 35 yard line mean Kasay can handle kickoffs again?

If you want them to catch it between the 5 and 15 YL, he can do it.

lol! Kasay no, Baker maybe able to do it. Either way it looks like we wont be using a kickoff specialist next year.

A kickoff specialist should put the ball in the end zone every time now that he is five yards closer.

Since the coverage team will be 5 yds closer, wouldn't consisently having the ball come down on the 1 or 2 yd line be good if you have a good coverage team? Unless the returner is very very good and/or your coverage team bad, shouldn't you typically be able to tackle him before he even gets to the 20?

Seems to me, the new rule would advantage a good coverage team with a kicker who could consistently kick the ball high and land it on the 1.

I would think the chances of pinning them inside the 20 would still be low. Even with a good kickoff guy you are going to be hard pressed to have it hang high in the air, go 64 yards then land without bouncing in the endzone.

Coverage team is only allowed a five yard running start now, not sure how that will affect things. Might even out the five yards closer kickoff.

Also, heard one ex HC saying this would change strategy of coin toss winners. More would defer receiving until the second half. I'd think the teams with strong D might be so inclined.
