Yes, Sir Fox tends to get out of his summer morning hangover around November 1.

September typically is treated as a 4-game pre-season extension, and October is always a roller-coaster. The man turns on the switch down the stretch, no question.

He has plenty of input into game planning, play calling, personnel (coaches and players). So to give him any sort of pass on this would be foolish. I think he's a super guy, and his players play hard for him.

But I do believe there are better, more innovative and equally motivating candidates are (and will be) available for the taking after we wrap 2010. It's just time.

2008 looked good on paper until you remember who the 12 tomato can teams they beat that year before getting their asses handed to them by Arizona in the playoffs..

Fox is a good coach but the relationship with the owner seems to have gone sour. As soon as Mr. Richardson replaced his sons last year I had a feeling Fox wouldn't be here too much longer.

I think Fox--you can almost see it in his pressers if you watch them carefully. He's more sour than usual, and that's saying something.

He speaks, almost resentfully, about "having what he has" to work with, which you can hardly blame him for.

Yet, I still find myself agreeing with JR's approach. His motives, I believe, are in the right place, and I think he understands the impact on current spending vs. 2011's labor situation as well as anyone in the NFL. Hard to question the man at this point.

you're on fire lately. I mean, there are times I actually don't respond because you've already said about all that needs to be said.

I have no idea what's going on between JR and Fox.

Maybe there's something to that, I don't know. I know that absent a CBA, they set a budget. As a coach there's nothing you can do about that. Most teams didn't spend much, or spent on one or two guys. There was no player's windfall.

And the way we do things hasn't really changed - we released a lot of vets, but most we'd normally have cut anyway given the capless thing. I said when Jake, Kemo, and Lewis were given silly extensions, that it was because that year you couldn't prorate. So they added years to players I never felt were safe. We lost nothing without most of those guys - most of them on D, most of them more than adequately replaced. The passing game losses you could say hurt, but they're not playing right now anyway. And we had problems there last year, two years ago. I'm somewhat happy they just tried to fix it, even if I'm not happy with being the worst in the league at it as a result.



I know John Fox isn't a bad coach. There are plenty of people who want him gone that have for years, and plenty that think we can do better, both of which is fine. But, I do fear that we're specifically going to get worse without the correct move.

still, he's ultimately responsible for playing the hand he was dealt, just like Seifert coached in 2001 with a team he clearly did not want. So, sure, he'll probably go based on this year, and probably do just fine somewhere else, which is fine if we're legitimately done with him. But he didn't just forget how to coach.
