Former Carolina Panther charged in Waxhaw shooting

A former Carolina Panther was charged with assault and robbery after a Sunday shooting at a home under construction in a Waxhaw neighborhood.
Jimmy Davis Hitchcock, 37, who played with the Panthers in 2000 and 2001, posted $60,000 bond and was released from Union County Jail on Monday. Police are still searching for Hitchcock's brother, Angelo, and a third suspect, who has not been identified.
Police said the shooting happened after the Hitchcocks got into an argument with 33-year-old Bryan Kross , who was working on a house on Connells Point Avenue in the Cureton subdivision off N.C. 16.
Kross was shot four times in the chest and back, but still managed to pursue his assailants.
Hitchcock attended North Carolina and was selected in the third round of 1995's NFL draft. In 1998, the defensive back led the NFL in interception yards with 242 yards and defensive touchdowns with three.
