Is there any way Weinke starts?

I don't think so either, but the guy is giving about 70% more effort than he has in the past. Has the light gone on for him?

I'm really excited to see more from Weinke in the preseason. He can make plays - but MUST be consistently accurate.

I'm fairly happy with our QB situation right now!

actually if he doesn't he's at least provided enough fuel that we could trade him if we wanted... furthermore if Peete gets beat out this season by either Jake or Chris I expect Rodney to retire... so going into next year I wouldn't have a problem with Chris and Jake being 1 and 2... no particular order BTW that all depends on who's the best QB

We also have Weinke under contract, on the cheap, through 2005.

I don;t think escalators were reached for those remaining years, but I might be wrong.

I'm hoping he keeps getting better. It's only year 3 for him.

I'd agree with you guys. Peete is a good backup but you don't want him bringing you from behind very often IMO.

Delhomme and Weinke isn't bad.

My beef with Weinke is,

if he had some more mobility he'd be pretty decent. I'm not too big on last second pocket passers.

I think CW has enough mobility.

In that, I mean that, like Delhomme, he can run when he has to run, but he's not going to give up on the pass to save his hide. Both Weinke and Delhomme have run for first downs this preseason, and both have been able to gain yards when needed.

I could trust either with rollouts, too, but I'd rather it be Delhomme running if there were a choice.

He played in a different time though. There are faster defenses that will smoke pocket passers.

Marino knew better which times to throw the ball away vs. taking the sack as well.
