First, let me say that I hope Diener is doing well and that he will be on the court very soon. He is the heart and soul of that team and could play on my team any day.
However, working with TV last night I saw what I think was the most irresponsible journalism from a broadcaster I have seen in a long time. I've worked almost every TV game in Halton and I was never so pissed. The color commentator (forget his name) and former Marquette great, all but called Calvin's play intentional, and did so repeatedly. By no means was that an intentional play. It was about the eighth time in the game Diener got someone in the air on a pump fake and unfortunately for him it was a player about 250 pounds. This announcer said Calvin didn't do anything to get out of the way and should have, as if he could freeze himself in mid-air like a freaking acrobat and move. He simply got caught in the air and landed on him. Pure accident. Stuff like that pisses me off because undoubtedly he convinced a lot of TV viewers that it was dirty, and that simply was not the case. The guy sounded like a moron combination of Walt Frazier and Mike Tyson.
