bah, its poor linebacker and safety play, dropped passes, and a semi-crappy o-line. the team really thought they had a shot this year, and they're all figuring out the 'team' isn't that good w/out morgan and wharton - that hartwig's been no help, and that maake isn't fixing anything, that minter is lost, that lucas is having a tough year, howard is gone, colbert really does suck, and that because of these things we suck on both sides of the ball on 3rd down.

there are problems, sure. I do think the article was right - all talent, no cohesiveness, and a lot of mental mistakes.

That's more difficult to explain. He's always had poor mechanics, and I don't know if they're necessarily that much worse than they used to be.

That's actually kind of interesting, although Delhomme is sort of a leader on offense. We don't really have one on defense now unless you count Minter, and I'm not sure he's the take charge type more than just an exhorter.

I've said it before and I will say it again. Gantt is a moron.

Has it occurred to him that 3+ years of film makes it easier to figure out Jake? Not noting that there is a complete new set of linebackers is sad.

And despite his recent struggles, at least half the league would trade the guy they line up under center for Delhomme.

I doubt it.

There is a book out on him now, too. In 2003, teams feared our run, because of Stephen Davis and a juiced OL. Thus they played man in the secondary. Now they play cover 2, and he, like most QBs, doesnt do as well against it.

That may be the main thing. I think the D is playing reasonably well. Good enough to win. STs have had huge breakdowns, but mostly, their OK. The element that's almost always bad is the O. Its had its moments, but that's not good enough.

I thought it was very interesting too. I've seen it brought up before. Jake's ineffectiveness undermines him as a leader.
