The insurance company is offering my mom less than what her car was worth. They are offering her about $2,000 but Kelly Blue Book and NADA are both over $3000. I pulled up the local classifieds and comparable vehicles are listed at about $3,000. Do we have any recourse.

It is not worth getting a lawyer for $1000 dollars. It just sucks to get screwed by them. They say they only give you "cash value" not replacement value. That sucks because she had a car that sells for $3000 and now she can only replace it with a car that costs $2000. Because she had an accident that was not her fault she just had to down grade her car by one third.

Granted she will likely put the $2000 down on a car that costs much more than $3000 but still she is getting screwed over by the insurance company.

And the insurance company knows this, hence the reason you are getting screwed. If it really pisses you off just switch companies once you get the check.

Like that will hurt them. They now consider his mom a risk and would rather see her gone.

Actually or actuarially no. The chances of her having another accident are slim to none.
