...who would you like to see starting at FS?

Will Hampton
Colin Branch
FA
Draft pick

Really the full answer to this is hard to say, because there's no way to know who'd be available at FS in the draft. Sure there are guys I'd like to have drafted, but I don't want to reach for them and they may be taken before a pick I think is fair value for them.

I would give Wesley a shot at it in training camp but unless he shows something he has not shown before then I would go with Branch. He is probably going to be better after a year of starting. As far as a draft pick it depends on if we can get a solid guy who is ready to play right away. I would basically have a competition for the starting spot and let the winner play.

Branch was baically handed the job, and I was wanting to see him excel.

Last year - 9 of 11 defensive starters were draft picks. I liked that alot.

This year - it might be the same - Lucas looks to be a starter, but if Fields is gone, we may draft a guy to take the start on that side, and we'd still be 9 of 11.

I didn;t mean to drift.....

I'm also crazy / have a brain injury, as I'm suddenly dizzy, and tasting / craving wasabe.

Fields goes, and we're probably using Short there instead. A draftee would back them, hopefully.

Why is it so hard to get a FS that has coverage skills and run support skills in our system? Seems like there are alot of CBs that have those skills. Let's get one and play him at FS. Is it because the CB position pays more? Why not develope a CB at FS with the promise of a promotion???

Miter's only pass coverage skill is that he hits a ton and knocks the ball loose ocassionally.

Someone tell me what the ideal profile of a FS would be. What the hell is his duty? Is he suppose to be a free agent with no structure?

I think a lot of corners could play FS, but a big difference between the positions is vision. Playing center field, you have an entirely different perspective than from the corner position. I don't know that too many CB's can make that adjustment and be as effective.
