A red wing team official said the Wings hadn't discussed the issue internally, but if the troubled Sabres left Buffalo and joined the Western Conference, the Wings probably would seriously consider petitioning the NHL to move to the East and take the Sabres' spot in the Northeast Division with Boston, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto...

I think it would be sweet if the Wings moved to the East. We could use some more teams that don't suck.

I'm sure City of Buffalo/Erie County/State of NY politcos will come up with the cash to keep the Sabres in town . . . They would have a still nice arena (HSBC Arena) sitting empty losing tons of money if it didn't have a major league tennant in there . . . . Or perhaps they could convince the Clippers to move back there**!!!!!


**LA Clippers originally were the Buffalo Braves . . . They left for San Diego in the late 70;s (1978?) due to scheduling problems at 'the Aud' (they were behind the Sabres & some local college team).

No, I think you put Nashville in the East in that scenario. You'd move Washington into Buffalo's division and put the Preds in the Southeast where they belong.
