Dunn likely staying put
<Feb. 10> Even though he's scheduled to count just more than $8 million against the salary cap, Dunn is definitely part of the Falcons' 2006 plans, according to head coach Jim Mora.
"Warrick Dunn isn't going anywhere," Mora informed the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an e-mail Thursday. "Warrick epitomizes what we believe an Atlanta Falcon should be both on and off the field. He has been one of the most productive players over the past two seasons and is a great fit for this offense. I'm excited to see him out on the field helping us win games again in 2006."

Pro Football Weekly is hearing that the Seahawks might have interest in Dunn, especially if RB Shaun Alexander leaves as a free agent. Seahawks team president Tim Ruskell told PFW at the Super Bowl that he will always have an interest in players he grew to know well in the past at stops with the Falcons and Buccaneers.

• It remains to be seen what happens with Carolina's running back situation, but one rumor making the rounds at the Pro Bowl is that Atlanta will try to trade T.J. Duckett.
Duckett's career hasn't progressed and Warrick Dunn is the Falcons' starter. But Duckett has good size and is the kind of power runner that could fit Carolina's offense.
Another rumor: The Panthers will make a play for Baltimore free agent running back Chester Taylor if Foster signs elsewhere.

Trades w/ in the division aren't terribly common so I don't see Duckett in Carolina. Taylor is interesting though, low mileage vet with some starts.

Agreed. Moreover, I don't like what I've seen out of Duckett recently, which is probably why Atlanta is willing to get rid of him. He's not running with as much power or cutting with as much quickness. I'll pass.

Funny, that pic he's got there was at practice.

During the game yesterday and in uni, he had on a tan/white Panther cap and used the excuse about "leaving his.....and getting this one...panthers....".

So what was his excuse in practice with that hat?

Just curious.

I'm more of the opinion it doesn't mean shit other than a 'subte' statement to seattle, if that.

FWIW, during the probowl game after the '96 season when Capers coached it, Favre had on a Panthers cap during the game and was questioned about it too. He said that he liked the Carolina players and coaches and thought they were a good group.
