I think he relies on the line too much. Wilkes was a Secondary coach and blitzed all the time. Washington seems to think he can get the same pressure just from his front four. Right now we average 2.3 sacks per game, last year we averaged 3. As for our red zone defense, that just gets bizarre, it's like we don't have one or aren't doing anything special.
The unit also seems to lack discipline. That image of a two-man rush in Pittsburgh just sticks with me. I understand that it was due to lack of communication, but that sort of thing just feels new in Carolina, and I don't like it.
