"The Charlotte Hornets are acquiring Dorian Finney-Smith and three second-round picks from the Houston Rockets, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
The Hornets continue to add veteran role players who can shoot and defend along with draft assets for the future. The Hornets receive second-round picks in 2027 (via Memphis), 2028 (via Houston) and 2033 (via Houston). They now have 20 second-round picks over the next seven years -- the second-highest number of tradeable picks in the NBA."

The team's latest moves mean nothing to any fan. "Hornets continue to add veteran role players who can shoot" The thing is... Finney-Smith can't shoot. He has end of the bench stats. It's almost looking like a tank setup coming. If I was a starter on the Hornets and saw the moves makes being made I would be pissed. No one likes to constantly lose.

The Charlotte Hornets will play their 2026 NBA Summer League games on July 9, 11, 12, and 15, with potential playoff games on July 18-19.
Hornets 2026 Summer League Schedule

  • Thursday, July 9, 2026 – at Orlando Magic, 7:30 PM ET, Cox Pavilion, broadcast on Prime
  • Saturday, July 11, 2026 – vs New Orleans Pelicans, 4:00 PM ET, Thomas & Mack Center, broadcast on ESPN
  • Sunday, July 12, 2026 – at Boston Celtics, 5:00 PM ET, Cox Pavilion, broadcast on ESPN2
  • Wednesday, July 15, 2026 – vs Milwaukee Bucks, 7:30 PM ET, Cox Pavilion, broadcast on Prime
Each team plays at least four games in the initial round (July 9–16). The top four teams based on winning percentage advance to the Summer League playoffs:
  • Saturday, July 18, 2026 – Semifinals
  • Sunday, July 19, 2026 – Championship game
Teams not advancing to the playoffs will play a fifth game on either July 18 or 19
I don't have ESPN, but I'll definitely be checking them out on Prime.

The Hornets' summer league has gone very different from last year. The scoring spark and the floor leadership isn't there. In their third game against a makeshift Celtics' squad they failed to score 20 points in three of the for quarters and their TO numbers have been abysmal with twenty-four in the Celtics' game alone.
It's easy to see that the Hornets' team won't be winning the Summer League this year.

The summer league Hornets lost their third straight game to end the summer session. Not sure who was coaching the squad this year, but it was definitely not up to the level of last season and neither was the talent. Steinbach showed out in this game scoring 28 and bringing down 15 rebounds, but the other first round pick had a very, very poor summer showing. Yep, Anderson was suppose to be this long distance shooting wiz, but looked to be more fizz than wiz. It'd be polite to say just say he was bad so I will leave it at that. He did dish out 10 assists in this last game. That's a good sign, but unless he develops more I can't see him getting much playing time during a regular season.
