Looking at us and the 9ers

He seems to think we have equal overall talent, going in opposite directions.

He identified Wesley as someone who impressed him at camp.

Said good things about our offensive line play, particuarly Stues and Gross.

Had good things to say about Jake. I've been looking for someone to say that.

Lots of personnel execs like Jake. I'm hoping his indecisiveness at times is just a product of unfamiliarity.

Nice article. But he singled out Wesley as someone who might challenge Grant at FS. Don't know about that one.

"I like second-year player Dante Wesley to emerge this season as a challenger for a spot back there. "

I think he means the secondary in general.

Weinke`s name was never mentioned in the article. I guess he is another one under the media radar.

If Wenkie is smart and this plays out that he is still number 3 at the end of preseason, rather than run the scout team he ought to do a glenn rice back injury until he gets a trip out of here.

Wesley mentioned, yet I've seen him more in run support than anything, and same for Howard - though I'll say this. Manning gets out of position more, which means more throws, which means more camera time. Luckily, Manning can recover well, and therefore looks like a rose when no one can smell the manure.

And remember, there were times I forgot we had a corner opposite Howard, and that certainly wasn't because of bad play by Cousin. But mentioning Wesley, and not Manning at all, is odd.

Plus, our preseason camerawork really blows. It's very hard to tell what's going on in the secondary, other than mistakes or great plays, which is why it seems curious to praise Grant, though it's been pretty consistently noted that he's working hard, making most of the right plays, and misjudged a ball or two and therefore has gotten in the doghouse for being seen on camera twice and both of them bad.

On the other hand, I'll say that our preseason camera work emphasises the line play and I really like that for evaluating that facet. But right now, I couldn't tell you anything about our secondary at all.

It's disturbing that Weinke didn't get a mention. I'll be disappointed if he and Skip Hicks don't get decent shots.
