In addition to hopefully squeezing in 4 or 5 (or more?) rooks a month from now a surge of new blood should make us all feel pretty good about the future. Kasay and Proehl should be our oldest remaining bastards at 35 and 37 . . . Aside from them we should be getting younger in several areas -

Willig 36 > Wharton 23
Weinke 32 &/or Peete 64 > Rutherford 24
Tylski 34 > Wahle 27
Sauerbrun 32 > Cheek 27
Hankton 34 > Ross 29

Buckner and Fields are 32 but at least we have Moorehead and Short around at 26 and 27 respectively.
Minter, Mitchell, and Mangum, are all 31 without any current replacements in line. Davis is the only other guy of note who is over 30 but he may not be in the picture anyway. Next year with Buck, Fields, and Minter likely to be passing the torch we should be in good shape age-wise.

should be getting younger. But now Fox has to win with more of his guys, since guys he drafted are now in years 3 and 4. Should be interesting.

Though realistically Tylski isn't a good comparison - Reyes, Brzezinski are about the same age. Rich was never expected to play a major role.

true that the Tylski/Wahle thing isn't accurate and actually I wanted to put Baas there (naughty me since we probably won't even draft him). However, I think it's a high probability that since Nelson is cooked already our guys WILL find a younger backup for Mitchell. I'd put money on that since we still don't have a decent backup center on the roster (including Tylski) and with Mitch's future here less than rock solid you gotta believe that the position will have to be addressed to a greater degree than trying to beg one more year out of some over the hill dude who was apparently reluctant to crawl out of retirement in the first place. Several here (including you) have admitted how F'd we would be without Mitchell. Tyski is as good as gone . . . same for everybodys favorite bust here Nelson
