Game Platforms

I was seriously considering a PS2, but when I read up on it everyone agreed that it was a bad unit. Nothing but problems. They all recommended Xbox, but I hate Microsoft.....I like the GameCube, but there aren't very many games that I like.

I've played PS2 at friends' houses and I really like it. They haven't had any probs, but I get on amazon and I see so many ppl complaining about it.

So, I was wondering if I should just go ahead and get a PS2 since that's what I'm drawn to, or in the long rune, would I be happier with an Xbox?

Whoever you were talking to is smoking crack. The PS2 is a fine platform with an outstanding game library. It's also backward-compatible with PSOne games. In addition, its Dual Shock analog controller is quite possibly the most perfect video game controller ever designed. I'm interested in knowing who told you the PS2 was a "bad" system. They deserve to be smacked.

Don't be so quick to dismiss XBox either. It has some very worthwhile games and cool features that make it worth a look.

Gamecube is OK... if you're 15 years old and hooked on Mario.

Read some of the reviews on amazon.com for PS2.....That's what I was going by.

I've got all 3. GameCube I seldom play. PS2, I play games that are exclusive to PS2, but if a game is multiplatform I buy it for XBOX. XBOX is way better graphics wise. At this point its got a game library to match PS2. Its got a built in hard drive. I bought one for my PS2, but all games aren't compatible with the hard drive, even some new ones. For some reseason retailers are bad about putting extra features in XBOX games that they don't in PS2 or GameCube versions of their games and I consider that a plus. Overall I rank my XBOX MUCH higher. I like my Playstation 2, but I'm eagerly awaiting next year's PS2 and XBOX2 to see which of those will be better. And that's something else you may wanna consider. Get whichever of the 2 you can get cheapest right now because their newer counter parts will be released next Christmas season.

I didn't know they wre revamping the systems for a rerelease.

All I want to play is Grand Theft Auto and True Crime.....I've been happy w/ those games on the PS2 platform since I've gotten hands on time with it. I haven't with the Xbox and I think that'll influence me, but I wanted to get other opinions.

what kind of tv do you have? if you have a big tv, get the xbox. ps2 graphics are horrible on a wide screen.

then like I said XBOX games head to head win out. You don't have Halo or Dead or Alive on Playstation. Likewise no GTA on XBOX. But head to head XBOX game versions normally include extra added features that PS2 doesn't provide.

Latest things I've read say PS3 will be available as soon as March. And some reports say the XBOX 2 should be out before PS3. So it could be DAMN soon.
