FreeCreditReport.com Question

Used it once. They will automatically sign you up in their 12.95/month program? Wasn't too hard to get off of it. You can use Annual Credit Report.com to pull your three bureau reports (doesn't provide your actual score). I use Quizzle.com if I am interested in my score as it is provided from Experian for free (not sure how they do that but it is done through Quicken Loans so I wouldn't think it would be illegal).

Yea, I avoid that company with the annoying commercial. Just use the annualcreditreport.com site and pay a little extra if you want you score. I do that at least once a year.

Can I have bugs in my computer that can identify and send my SS# to a hacker if I type it even on a secure site?

I'd imagine there is some kind of virus/malware, etc out there that can do that. It's kinda scary. I'm sure you have some kind of antivirus so that should help. I've basically decided to do my online banking at work since the environment is much more secure.

I don't keep anything having to do with personal numbers on my computer. I am even afraid to buy anything using a credit card number on the internet. I would like to see what my credit score is just for grins but am afraid to type in my SS#. I have not had my identity stolen yet and don't want to do anything to rock that boat.

What can I do to have my credit line reduced. I have WAY more credit than I want or need and all I see is it sitting there just waiting for someone to use the hell out of it.

I can understand not wanting to put your info out there. I don't really mind the credit card because I can cancel it at anytime if I see something suspicous and not be liable for the charge. I NEVER use a debit card online though as that is a direct link to the checking account and the rules for disputing an expense are a little more complicated than for a credit card.

As far as reducing your credit line, just call the bank or whoever issued the credit card. If they won't lower the amount just cancel the card. If it's a HELOC, just do the same.
