Assuming we finish no better than 5-11 or at best, 6-10 (we squeeze out 1 more win out of this season somhow), I say fire Hurney but keep John Fox. What do y'all think ? ? ?

I don't think that its fair to fire anyone this year. If we had everyone healthy, then maybe. I say give them another year and if we consistently suck next season, get Bill Cowher on the phone.

I gotta admit I said keep both, on the total history. I'd like Hurney to have a decreased role in talent evaluation or get someone in to replace him but a brand new GM might or might not mesh well with Fox so I'm hesitant to make that move. Not dead set against it, just hesitant. If I wanted Fox gone, Marty would go with him for sure.

As Jimmy Johnson said today on Fox, if we were to fire John Fox, he'd shoot to the top of everyone else's coaching list.

that's where a VP would come in, but it'll never happen.

My wish list,,,, I'd keep Fox, but I'd like to see him completely turn over the offense to someone who we obviously don't have now so we can get a little excitement generated on the offensive side of the ball,,,,,, and I agree with bringing in someone else with a proven track record to help them both in evaluating talent.

For what it's worth, yesterday's offense was quite exciting.

Yep, that wasn't the first game that Smitty has taken a direct snap or lined up in the backfield either, they've done that a couple of times this year. I guess people just remember it better when it works and we win.

Another thing...I don't know how people were expecting them to open up the playbook earlier in the season, when we had a different QB every week. Davidson said all along that the plan was to gradually build on the playbook as the season went along, but that plan went straight to hell when Jake got hurt. If Vinny can stay healthy, they can start building it up again, though.

Anyway, even if Fox does get fired, I hope they keep Davidson around, because there is nothing wrong with his offense, and I think he learned alot of valuable lessons as far as his play calling goes. Besides that, I would hate to see them put Delhomme and Moore through, yet another, learning process...Moore has already had to learn two offenses in just his rookie season...enough already.

As of now, 32-8 favor keeping Fox. With all the noise lately I'd have though there would be many more fire him votes.

Did anyone change their opinion after yesterday? Would a loss have changed anyone's mind?

I didn't vote, but its because I want both to return. Fox is coach, Hurney is GM (primarily over contracts) and a new VP of personnel is hired.
