Fence question

OK, I need to fence in the backyard for my dog ( lab/border collie mix). Question is, do I :

A. Fence in the whole back yard ? ( and have dog poop potentially anywhere)...or...

B. Fence in a portion of the backyard ( like half of it, not a small dog pen).

If I do the half option, would this hose any resale value ( and make it look red-neck ?)

i think it would look better without the wire.

as far as resale, it's probably pretty easy to rip out and get rid of.

well the wire is a necessity if you are trying to contain a dog. I've had a fence like that at two different houses.

Depending on the size I say fence in the whole back yard. Unless you have a natural break area where it makes sense to stop the fence. As for the dog poo all over they usually pick a general area and stick to it.

Think about where you put gates. They cost more but you'll be pissed if you have no way out on one side of the house or out the back if you need access.

We have a pie shaped lot that makes a fence hard to do - expensive.

We are probably going to install an invisible fence ourselves. $350 vs. $1,100 for Invisible Fence guys to do it.

Do the whole fence. pay some kid 10 bucks to clean up the poop.

I had this choice a few years ago and went with doing the whole back yard. I ended up regretting it and wishing I had gone for a smaller dog area. The dog poop is one problem but another is landscaping. I planted some leyland cypress tress for a hedge only to see the dogs dig them up and chew them apart. If I were you I would not do the whole yard.
