nah, they wouldn't offer him more than 4 years....during the season they did...5 year 50 million. I don't think he ever planned on re-signing with Detroit, he just played the strings for a while. I think Holland knew this would happen and that's why they went after Hatcher so hard. You'll see the wings style of play change to mirror the New Jersey Devils....comparing their forwards to detroits even without feds they are pretty much equal. He wanted to be the spotlight on him...guess he was tired of sharing it.
Huge loss, especailly on the power play and penalty kill. I think they can make up his 30 some goals with Yzerman playing a whole season, Datsyuk and Zetterburg increasing their production, and whoever they get for Cujo (looks like it'll be Jellohead).
Big gain for Aneheim...I'd take Federov/Prospal over Karyia/Oates anyday.
