I'd be fine with him as QBs coach. He's not in charge, he's just there to fix QB mechanics (something I believe him good at) and help out here or there. I don't think it will happen, and think Skipper is the guy in line to be OC next.

Agree about QBs coach. I just can't get over how much the Ravens O improved the minute he left. Not in favor of him as OC.

For those who like him, he would be trying the whole time to position himself as a HC. If he had any success, he would leave immediately.

Valid point. With that said though, the same sort of thing happened to Sean Payton (ironically, under Fassel) and look at him now.

Likewise, Marv Levy didn't look so good with the Chiefs before succeeding with the Bills, and speaking of Bills there's the Belichick story (Browns to Jets to Patriots).

You never know. Sometimes guys just fail at one place for whatever reason and then succeed somewhere else.

A coordinator coming and going and being involved in job searches can be distracting and concerning. A position coach being involved? That's not as big of a deal. The rules are the same concerning any of them, right now, so the only difference is that a position coach doesn't have the responsibility and leadership of a coordinator.

Plus, I don't know that he has an NFL head coaching job for a few years anyway.

Many sides to an argument

There are some in the NFL, especially the N.Y. area, who wouldn't have Fassel on their staff if he worked for free. There are also some who were amazed that Billick hired him for the Ravens in the first place, friends or no. There are some in the Baltimore area who say he was so distant from the players that he might as well not have been in the building. . . the bottom line being there are always pros and cons, but in this case the cons seem to be overwhelming.

I thought he did a good job with what he had to work with in New York. Hard to judge him off of Baltimore since he was not really in charge.
