Well Brave fans what are you guys going to do for pitching? Ortiz signed with the D-Backs, and Wright signed with the dark empire, the Yanks. Other than the Hudson deal which the Braves killed, I havn't seen or heard any rumors. I am not as sold on Lieber but it's still December. The Phils are still mentioned with Hudson and Pavano (long shots I am sure)

Depressing off season if you are a Braves fan, like I am. I hope Smoltz can go a whole season without troubles, or we're screwed. Ortiz, Wright both gone. I also hear word that Braves may not keep JD Drew either. But, at least we signed Julio Franco to a 1 year deal...

Dec. 12 - The Braves and Yankees could resurrect discussions to send Kevin Brown to Atlanta, but only if New York is willing to eat most of the right-hander's $15 million salary.

According ESPN's Jayson Stark, the Braves have tried to get the Yankees to pay virtually all of Brown's salary and dump him for very little in return. The Yankees are balking at that. So if this deal ever goes down, it would mean the caliber of player the Yanks would get back would depend on how much of Brown's salary Atlanta is willing to pay.

Brown is from Georgia and likely would waive his no-trade clause to get a deal done.

Dec. 10 - The Tigers have emerged as a possible bidder for Drew, who is said to be seeking a five-year deal for more than $50 million. The Braves declined to offer Drew arbitration earlier this week because he doesn't fit their budget. He spurned their offer of three years and $25 million last month.

Detroit had been bidding on Steve Finley before he elected to join the Angels. While more expensive, Drew also is considerably younger. He hit .305 with 31 homers, 93 RBI and 12 stolen bases last season, the first time he played a full season without going on the disabled list.
