He's a rookie. Peyton looked just as bad his first few games. Of course, so did Ryan Leaf. And Joey Harrington actually played well his first start.
He hit some good looking deep balls, but the picks were just awful. He had plenty of room to hit Shockey in the endzone.
In other news, Jake's passer rating went up over 80 for the season. Normally that'd put you into the top half, but it's just good enough for 19th right now. But he's been on a tear of late and could finish in the top half.

C'mon hasbeens, you gotta bring it better than that. I don't really see how anyone can make that statement. SEC? LSU? Auburn, Alabama?
Eli carried a bad Ole Miss team to 11-2 without the luxury of anything closely resembling a Jamal Lewis, Peerless Price, or Al Wilson.

Eli Manning lost to Arkansas twice that I saw, and Arkansas wasn't that good. I watched two games, and while he got the job done, he didn't look any better than Matt Jones or Zack Clark. He was good, but not as good as the hype.Piper said:

Arkansas had a pretty good team with a pretty good defense those years. I remember he struggled his Jr. year, but Eli beat them down the next year.
Don't believe me, see Ole Miss this year.
He's a lot better than Matt Jones. The Ole Miss D is just bad. Real bad.

It may have been 10-3, they lost one conference game (LSU) and I think Memphis early in a shootout.
You never know how talent will play out in the NFL. But as a collegiate propspect, I'd still take Eli over most of the prospects to come out the last 5 years, second to Vick. Big Ben has been great, but is on a much, much better team. And I really feel he's a more complete passer than Harrington, Palmer, even your boy Carr coming out. I always questioned Carr's size and vision. He's been tough and fairly productive this season, but I don't think he'll be terribly accuate ever.
And yes, Florida is a long time SEC school.
