• Carolina's defense, ranked second in the NFL last year, was 19th after Sunday's games. The Panthers were 10th against the run and tied for 24th against the pass. On offense, Carolina ranked 25th overall: 10th rushing and 26th passing.

>>I saw this on Charlotte.com. Our guys better tighten up if they want to meet or beat last year's ranking!

"rankings" ??????

Don't mean sheit. But I'm with you for respect, if nothing else.
Rankings don't a good record make.
Having a winning season is all I care about.
Having a winning season lends to decent 'ranking'.
Having a #2 D, or #1 for that matter, means nothing if our guys are watching the games on TV next January.

these numbers are skewed bad b/c you can't count on teams like indy having a top 5 defense all year. i'm sure these numbers will be much different after week 6.

it would be intersting to see how our defense that played in the 2nd half would have stacked up...ya know if Peete hadnt exhausted them

Rankings at this point are kinda like baseball batting averages after the first couple weeks of the season. Somebody marginal's usually batting .438 or something, and a future HOFer or two are hitting below .200. Everyone knows neither will finish up that way...
