I don't careif you dropped a #1 on rivers, they shouldn't get rid of Brees. He's 25 and on fire.

Really - better to have a first round bust than to let Brees get away and have to start over.

they drafted him way high to ever get that trade value back. I don't see anyone wanting to trade off a high #1 for him, and I don't think he's better than Rodgers/Leinart.

and they did kinda fuck themselves over with the contract negotiations they had with him, which kept him off the field and from at least showing him off to other teams.

But they do have 2 first rounders next year from trading eli to NY. They can do something if they wanted to maybe.

It just makes no sense to dump the guy that you drafted 4 years ago who has thrown 19 TD's and 3 picks in 11 games. Fuck that. Get rid of Rivers or keep him on the bench, and make Brees the man. Brees has earned it.

Eli Manning looked bad, and i don't see how he's the best option over Warner with the Giants in playoff contention.

another side of the coin is that he could be playing this good for the dreaded contract year. Where was this kind of play before they drafted a QB?

the thing is, SD could easily keep both, if they have the cap room, and not be "outrageous". No way Rivers should be playing in year 2, and no way is letting Brees leave a smart idea. The team has four years in him, and he's just hitting his stride.

Which is where he should be.

Certainly, they could get worse again, and play Flutie for half a season while everyone looks at Rivers nervously.
