I know we have beaten this to death with a dull stick but wanted to discuss some scenerios - assuming we don't move out of #9...

Assuming - Palmer and Rogers go 1,2
3) Houston - Suggs
4) Chic - Kennedy or Robertson
5) Dallas - Newman
6) Zona - Leftwich
7) Sota - Kennedy or Robertson
8) Jags - Trufant
9) Cats - Johnson

9) Cats - Leftwich

It seems to me that we will have our pick of Trufant, Leftwich or Johnson at our pick. I know sota could go Trufant but I doubt it atp. If Chic goes DT then we should get one of those 3.

I believe the Jags are going Trufant ALL the way right now. Del Rio wants a stout defense and will have one with Trufant in the mix. I disagree completely with those who say Jax biggest need is WR. They are in dire need of quality CBs and CBs carry more value than WRs. Is Trufant better than Johnson - probably not - but Trufant is true shut down corner and Del Rio will have a very tough time passing on him.

So - IMO, we stay put and take Trufant, Johnson or Leftwich at our pick. If those 3 somehow go before us make Gross or Harris the rabbit in the hat. Either of those OL add quality depth and prepare for the future in terms of replacing Steuisse and/or Donnelly down the road, if not surplant someone like Tuten.

I don't give up picks or players to move up right now. No need IMO. FA has allowed us the comfort of sitting still and plucking the best guy there IMO.

Zona would pass on Leftwich if Suggs is available and pick up a QB in the 2nd

Yep, you are correct sir. They could go Johnson if Suggs is gone though - but that leaves us Leftwich.

We certainly can't go wrong with Trufant, Leftwich or Johnson. I used to favor a trade up with Chicago for Leftwich, but were I am now is standing at #9 and see what drops. The wild card, imo is now the trade down potential, something I never was in favor of, but now think is a strong possibility. If Leftwich or Johnson falls to us, I believe we might get some tempting offers. The question will then be do we pass on one of these "potential" stars, or is the offer to trade down enticing enough. I have no doubt our phone will be ringing if Andre Johnson or Byran Leftwich is available at #9......do we trade or draft? I guess it all depends on the offer.

My ideal draft looks like this right now:

1) Leftwich
2) Bryant Johnson
3) Wayne Hunter or Brett Williams or Tony Pashos or Montrae Holland or Derrick Dockery
4) Sammy Davis or Ricky Manning Jr

That would be a sick draft.

1. Leftwich - QB Marshall

Combination of intelligence, leadership, quick release, extreme accuracy, and elite velocity make him the best player available if he's their at 9.

2. Stinchcomb - OT Georgia

Strong and quick footed tactician. Smart player. not a dominating run blocker, but effective, and could move over to the left side in and when Todd Stuessie's play slides.

3. A. Boldin - WR Florida St.

Plays faster than he times. Has good burst and routes. Very much likea Hines Ward.

4a. Cie Grant - OLB Ohio State

Nickle linebacker with good range and speed. Could develop into a weakside player.

4b. Ovie Mughelli FB Wake Forest

Best blocking FB in the draft

5. Ryan Hoag WR/KR Gustavus Adolphus

Division III prospect is getting raves as a returner.

6. Langston Moore DT

Short but powerful, he could give us some depth as a 2 gap DT on run downs.

7. Derrick Brantley OT/G Clemson

May have been a first day player till a knee injury brought him down. Has good footwork and could make a nice pulling guard.

2) Bryant Johnson

Under the assumption we need a posession guy? Not that I disagree, with Moose on tenuous ground and Proehl being old as Mathmajors, we could use one, but all the same Smith's FA in a year and so's Dyson too. I could go either way, but I was curious to your thought process there.
