Yup Gross is solid. Manning is damned near close to being a starter. Seidman is a year away from starting IMO. Moorehead will eventually take Burton's place when his contract expires and possibly replace Buckner in the future as a starter, and Young is about 2 years away from being a Joe Jurivious(sp?) type.
Makes you wonder what we could've done with Bruse Nelson though.

You may see Nelson replacing Donnalley next season or perhaps Mitchell in 2 years.

well the fact that he struggled in preseason vs. NFL second stringers and got moved primarily to center instead of guard due to that... he's more comfortable at center and makes a good BACK UP there... not worthy of a 2nd round pick by any means

Didn't get to see him in preseason. I'm not defending Nelson myself, I just have faith in Hurney and Co. They had to have seen SOMETHING to make them draft him that high.

If I remember correctly, both Henning and Fox really talked up Nelson's diverse experience along the line....sounds like they saw him as "the ultimate back-up" to me. I agree, though, we just haven't seen enough of him to really make a call. And, some guys take awhile to really catch on in the pros.

Probably right. His blocking isn't where Mangum's is yet. But overall, I'd say he's at least as good as Mangum.

At this point, I think I'd rather see Burton stay than Buckner. Buckner isn't showing the quicks he has the past two seasons. Burton is a one threat guy, but it's a big threat. He's getting to be as good at shutting down the run as Jenkins. Not quite, but close. Plus, his height and long arms are an asset against the pass.

I seriously doubt he'll ever be that good. He'll stick around for a couple of years, but I don't see him getting any higher than #4 on our depth chart.
